Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Fourth Busiest in US Last Year

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the fourth-busiest airport in the U.S., according to 2018 data released by the Federal Aviation Administration.

DFW's ranking is based on 667,213 flights, a 2 percent increase over the year before.

Dallas Love Field had 231,110 flights during 2018, about a 1.6 percent increase from 2017.

Tops in the nation was Chicago's O'Hare International, surpassing Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport for the first time in four years.

The FAA said O'Hare had more than 903,000 arrivals and departures last year; Atlanta was a close second with 895,000 takeoffs and landings.

Last year, O'Hare operations increased 4.2 percent, compared with a 1.8 percent increase in Atlanta. United Airlines is the largest carrier at O'Hare and has been adding more flights from its hub at the Chicago airport to smaller cities throughout the Midwest.

Los Angeles International Airport took third and Denver took fifth.
