Costly Congestion: Price DFW Drivers Pay to Sit in Traffic

Traffic trouble is on the rise in the United States and it’s costing drivers big bucks.

Researchers at Inrix have pinpointed the top 25 costliest congested cities in the country and the Dallas-Forth area is in the top five. North Texas has 6,720 traffic hotspots that will cost drivers $28.3 billion by 2026.

For two months, researchers from Inrix collected data on DFW roadways. The estimated cost of congestion was calculated by compiling wasted fuel costs and the value of time drivers spend on the road.

The worst hot spot is Interstate 20 between Collins Street and Carrier Parkway. That stretch alone will cost $446 million during the next 10 years.
