DeSoto is home to one of the nation’s top girls 4x100-meter relay teams.
The Lady Eagles set a Jesuit-Sheaner Relays meet record with a winning time of 45.26 seconds this past weekend. That’s the best time in the nation.
“We’re trying to go in and beat people’s booties,” said senior sprinter Rosaline Effiong. “We’re like, we’re going to break records and do great. That’s our goal.”
Despite DeSoto’s success, track coach June Villers says there’s always room for improvement.
“We’ve raced 45.30 already and felt like they could improve on that if we could just get the hand-offs a little bit cleaner and they did that Saturday,” said Villers. “I think they’re going to race even faster this week.”
