A Denton High School assistant coach resigned last week after allegations of a possible inappropriate relationship with a student surfaced, according to the Denton Independent School District.
The Denton Police Department is investigating, and police spokesman Officer Ryan Grelle said that last Thursday the allegations were brought to a school resource officer by another employee.
Police are investigating, along with the Denton ISD which said Tuesday it is taking the situation very seriously.
The latest news from around North Texas.
Denton ISD Communications Director Mario Zavala said they were also made aware of the situation on Thursday and that the assistant coach at the center of the situation resigned that same day.
Beacuse the coach is no longer a district employee, Zavala said any future information will come from police.
At this time no charges have been filed and no arrests have been made as police said this is all still a “possible” situation.
"The detective is working closely with the school district to try and determine if the allegation is true that it is an improper relationship," said Grelle.
