Deadly Three-Car Crash Shuts Down Highway: Police

Police closed a busy stretch of road in North Richland Hills Tuesday night to investigate a deadly crash.

The three-vehicle crash happened at about 6 p.m. in the 8000 block of Boulevard 26.

Police said a 2016 Chevy Cruz was traveling eastbound on Birchwood Drive and tried to cross Boulevard 26, when it crossed into the northbound lanes of traffic and was struck by a Ford F-150.

The Chevy crashed into the east side of the road and caught fire, police said.

The Ford F-150 kept moving into the southbound lanes of traffic and struck a Lexus.

Two people inside the Chevy were able to escape, and were taken to the hospital. A third person sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The drivers of the Ford and the Lexus were not hurt.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The name of the victim is not being released, pending next of kin notification, according to police.
