Deadly Crash on Interstate 20 in Arlington

Arlington police continue to investigate what led to a deadly crash Tuesday afternoon along eastbound Interstate 20.

Police said a Mazda passenger car was traveling at a slow speed in the far right lane at about 2 p.m. when a Honda passenger car attempted to merge onto I-20 from U.S. Highway 287 and crashed into the back of the Mazda.

The Mazda then collided with a Lexus passenger car, police said.

A adult male who was in the back seat of the Mazda died at the scene, police said. Three other people in the Mazda, including two small children, had minor injuries. The driver of the Mazda was not hurt.

The driver of the Honda was transported to a nearby hospital to be checked out, according to police. No one in the Lexus was injured.

Investigators previously said the deceased passenger was a teenager, but further information has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
