The crash was reported at about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 45 at Malloy Bridge Road near the Dallas-Ellis county line.

The Wilmer Fire Department chief tells NBC 5 that a northbound vehicle crossed the median and collided with a southbound 18-wheeler carrying relief supplies.

Two occupants in the car were killed in the crash, according to the fire chief. The driver of the semi-truck had minor injuries.

Fire crews were working to salvage as much of the relief supplies as they could to continue the trek to Houston.

All southbound lanes of I-45 remained closed at Malloy Bridge until the crash was cleared at about 1 a.m. Thursday.
