DART Board Awards Contract for DFW Airport Line

DART takes next steps to direct DFW Airport connection

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit board has selected a company to design and build a rail line to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

DART on Tuesday announced the agreement, a joint venture involving Kiewit, Stacy and Witbeck, Reyes, Parsons, to complete the nearly $150 million project. The 5.2-mile extension of the Orange Line from Irving will be to Terminal A.

Officials say construction should begin early next year. The DFW airport rail line is scheduled to open in December 2014.

DART is seeking $130 million federal funds to help pay for the rail line extension.
