Dallas Zoo Hosts Annual Dollar Day Thursday

The Dallas Zoo once again hosts its annual Dollar Day Thursday.

Admission to the zoo is only $1 per person. Certain snack items at the zoo and other attractions are also $1 or discounted.

Last year, zoo officials estimated more than 20,000 people went to Dollar Day.

Zoo officials will use extra misting stations and fans to keep guests cool throughout the day.

The zoo recommends that Dollar Day attendees us the DART Red Line to avoid traffic and parking issues.

A Heat Adivsory will go into effect this afternoon at 1 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. Saturday. The afternoon heat index will be around 105 each afternoon.

NBC 5 Meteorologist Grant Johnston said a Heat Advisory will go into effect Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. The advisory will run through Saturday evening.
