The Dallas Stars will host the 2018 NHL Draft next June at the American Airlines Center.
The announcement was made by the NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly during a Reunion Lawn Party on Saturday.
“It’s amazing I can’t believe they’re bringing the draft here to Dallas. It’s going to be phenomenal for our city,” said fan Laura Stingfellow.
The draft will be held on June 22 and 23, 2018.
Mayor Mike Rawlings was also on hand for the announcement saying "The city will roll out the red carpet for everyone involved in the draft."
Saturdays Reunion Lawn Party was the kick off to the Dallas Stars 25th season.
“It’s a tough event to get and so we’re very proud because it makes for tens of millions of dollars in economic development,” said Rawlings. “It makes a community come together and have fun. 6,000 rooms are going to be booked by executives and it’s not just a few people from these organizations. They bring their whole teams down here.”
