Dallas Stars Get Fifth-Round Pick From Arizona In Exchange For Alex Goligoski

The Dallas Stars announced today that they have traded the negotiating rights of veteran defenseman Alex Goligoski, to the Arizona Coyotes, in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft. The move now gives the Stars six total picks in the upcoming NHL draft that is slated for June 24-25 in Buffalo, New York.

Goligoski spent the last six seasons with the Stars and appeared in 82 regular season games this past season, recording 37 points for the club.  General Manager Jim Nill said, "The Dallas Stars would like to thank Alex for all his contributions to the organization. A leader both on and off the ice, Alex has played an integral role in the development of our young defensemen into NHL-caliber players. His versatility over the past six seasons has helped shape this team into what it is today and we wish him and his family the best of luck."

The 30 year old Grand Rapids, Minnesota native has appeared in 562 regular season games for Dallas and Pittsburgh and was a member of the 2009 Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.
