Late Saturday, the Dallas Police Department confirmed the arrest of a 27-year veteran of the department on a family violence charge.
In a news release, Dallas police said the Rowlett Police Department arrested Lt. Joseph Sowell on Jan. 10 and charged him with assault — family violence.
Further details about the charge were not made available.
Sowell, who is assigned to the Dallas Police Department's Northeast Patrol Division, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
