Dallas Police Officer Arrested, Accused of Tampering With Government Records

A Dallas Police Officer has been arrested, accused of tampering with government records, a state jail felony.

Officer Matthew Rushing surrendered at the Dallas County Jail on Thursday

Rushing is also accused of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, which is a second degree felony.

The officer was placed under investigation by the department's Public Integrity Unit after receiving an external complaint earlier this month.

Rushing has been with the Dallas Police Department since December 2008 and was assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division. He has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation.
