Dallas Police Arrest 17-Year-Old Male in Hit-and-Run Crash; Officer Recovering at Home

Dallas police confirm that Sr. Cpl. Dale Ordogne is now recovering at home after a hit-and-run crash that left him trapped inside his patrol car at the bottom of a creek.

Investigators confirmed Saturday night that they arrested 17-year-old Ivory Keith Nails in connection with the crash.

Ordogne was responding to a burglary call in the 3100 block of South Westmoreland Drive near West Keist Boulevard May 29 when police said a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck failed to yield and T-boned the squad car, sending the officer's car into Fivemile Creek.

Nearly a dozen people who saw the crash then rushed to help the officer.

Ordogne was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center with critical injuries. NBC 5 learned Sunday that the officer had been released and is now recovering at home.

The driver of the truck that hit Ordogne took off before other police arrived.

On Saturday, officers spotted Nails leaving an apartment. They pulled over the driver and arrested Nails, who was a passenger in the car. The driver was also arrested and is facing several other charges.
