Dallas Motorcycle Cop Injured in Crash Along PGBT

The northbound lanes of the President George Bush Turnpike were closed Wednesday morning after a Dallas police officer had to lay down his motorcycle to avoid a crash, police say.

The officer, whose name has not yet been released, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for treatment.

The officer was working to slow traffic along the highway to allow the procession for slain Dallas police Sr. Cpl. Lorne Ahrens to access the roadway without mingling with traffic.

A driver ahead of the motorcycle slowed for the procession and the officer laid down his bike to avoid a collision.

Just before 11 a.m., the motorcycle was put on a tow truck and all lanes of the PGBT were reopened to traffic.
