On Tuesday, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson announced the return of the 24th annual "Back to School Fair."
A walk-up only fair is set for Thursday, August 20 at Fair Park, with a drive-thru only fair the next day.
The event provides families with essential school supplies.
"We want to make sure that families who are struggling to make ends meet particularly during a pandemic where a lot of folks aren’t working, that their kids are able to start the school year off with the confidence that they have what they need to do well," Johnson said.
"Getting school supplies has always been a challenge for some families and we want to make sure that is not standing in the way of our kids learning," Johnson added.
Registration is now open for city of Dallas residents whose kids attend Dallas ISD schools and meet certain requirements.
