Dallas Police Arrest Man in Teacher's Carjacking, Assault

Detectives still trying to identify second man in the robbery

A Dallas man accused of assaulting and carjacking a Dallas school teacher last month was arrested Saturday.

After a foot chase Saturday, Dallas police arrested Ira Booker and charged him with evading arrest and robbery.

At about 1:30 p.m. Saturday a citizen spotted Booker and told DART police at the West End Station that he was one of the men that robbed Sarah Hoff on Jan. 21.

DART officers attempted to detain Booker, but he ran. Dallas Police Mounted Officers joined the chase and Booker eventually surrendered.

Booker was taken to Dallas Police Headquarters where police said he admitted his involvement in the Jan. 21 robbery. According to police, Booker admitted he and another man pulled Sarah Hoff out of her car, beat her, and stole her car.

Police detectives are still working to identify the second man involved in the robbery.

According to police, Booker is being held in the Dallas County Jail.
