Dallas Faces $100 Million Shortfall

The city of Dallas needs $100 million to stay out of the red.

The Dallas City Council has already cut about $66 million from next year's budget -- but there is still a large projected shortfall.

To combat the shortfall the city is considering everything from city service reductions for residents to layoffs and furloughs of city employees.

So far, there are no plans to raise the property tax rate to try to offset the shortfall.
