Dallas County will start issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples this month, if the U.S. Supreme Court rules in favor of same-sex marriage.
County Clerk John Warren said Thursday afternoon that he won’t wait on the state to revise its marriage license application forms. Warren, a Democrat and a gay marriage supporter, said he expects a crowd of couples who are eager to marry. He said he will extend office hours to 6:30 p.m. for at least a month. Staff is ready to work overtime and security will keep the county office open late.
