Businesses along a busy Dallas street are asking the city for more safety features.
In the last few weeks, at least four pedestrians have been hit by cars on Cedar Springs Road. Two of the victims died.
Mitchell Harris, who lives in the neighborhood, witnessed one of the accidents.
“Someone right here in front of this Bank of America [was] plowed over by a Range Rover; didn't even stop,” he said.
Harris gets his hair cut at La Belle Salon near the intersection of Cedar Springs and Knight Street. Salon owner Tina Nguyen said drivers don’t always stop for pedestrians crossing the street, some of whom are her customers.
Leslie Brooks, who works at the salon, parks across the street to allow customers closer parking spots. He said he’s had a few close calls when walking to work.
“If you are not careful, you can be taken out, one way or the other,” he said.
