Police Nab Alleged Sword-Weilding Thief
An accused thief who uses a sword while robbing convenience stores is now in jail.  McKinney police said Phong Nguyen was armed with a sword when he held up a 7-Eleven store on Eldorado Parkway Wednesday.  The clerk called 911 and police spotted the suspect's car just four minutes later.  Officers said they found the man, with the sword, along with money and cigarettes taken from the store.

Pedestrian Fatally Struck on Highway Service Road
A man walking along a service road in Haltom City died after being struck by a pickup truck.  The crash took place Thursday morning along Loop 820 between Haltom Road and Beach Street.  The driver stopped and tried to help the man, but when paramedics arrived the pedestrian was dead.  Police said the driver was unable to avoid hitting the man and is not expected to face any charges.

Man Killed in Dallas Apartment Parking Lot
Dallas police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man who was shot in an apartment complex parking lot near Love Field Airport.  The man, whose identity has not yet been released, had arrived home and just parked his car when he was shot at about 2:30 a.m. The man was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas where he was pronounced dead.  Investigators have released no information on possible motive or suspects.

Patron Gunned Down in Strip Club Parking Lot
A man was shot in the head at Dallas' Palace Cabaret after a fight early Thursday morning, police said.  Witnesses told police the man had been involved in a fight inside the bar and that it spilled out into the parking lot where the shooting took place. The victim's name has not yet been released.  A Hispanic man was seen fleeing the scene after the shooting.  No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
