MAN HITS PEDESTRIAN, FLEES THE SCENE
Dallas police said a woman was struck by a pickup truck while trying to cross the street at about midnight Wednesday. Police responded to the call at Robert B Cullum Boulevard and Metropolitan Avenue near Fair Park, where witnesses told officers the driver of the truck had stopped and checked on the woman, but was driving away from the scene. Officers followed him, but he fled about 10 blocks before crashing. His truck knocked down an electrical pole, struck a parked van and overturned in a field. Officers took the uninjured man into custody. Police said he will likely be charged with evading arrest and failure to stop and render aid.

ELDERLY MAN DIES AFTER DOUBLE WRECK
An 84-year-old man died Tuesday morning after being involved in a traffic crash on Northeast Loop 820, the Dallas Morning News reports. Police said Allen Adkins struck a disabled vehicle while driving east on the highway near the Trinity Boulevard exit. Adkins then attempted to drive his vehicle off the freeway to avoid any more wrecks and struck a lightpole. He was taken to JPS for minor injuries, where he later died.

ANOTHER NORTH TEXAS DROWNING
Charles Cole III, 42, drowned Monday after going swimming at his parents' home in Fort Worth, authorities said. Cole’s mother found his body at the bottom of the pool’s eight-foot area when she returned home, the Dallas Morning News reports. When officers arrived at about 11 p.m., Cole's father was dragging him out of the pool. Cole was taken to North Hills Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office.

SECOND VICTIM OF WEEKEND CRASH DIES
The second of two pedestrians who were hit by a sport utility vehicle during the weekend died Monday evening at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Adrian Boortz, 20, and his great-grandfather, 78-year-old Floyd Boortz, were struck while trying to put gas in their van on an access road on Interstate 30. Adrian Boortz' girlfriend and 2-year-old son were in the van at the time of the collision but were not injured.

POLICE INVESTIGATING DEATH OF SOUTH FORT WORTH MAN
Fort Worth police are investigating the death of a 40-year-old man who was found dead by a family member Tuesday afternoon. The man, whose identity has not been released, was found in the 4500 block of Tall Meadow Lane in southwest Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports. Police are interviewing more than one person in connection with the man’s death.
 
2 MEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR MCDONALD'S SHOOTING
Anthony Otis Banks, 21, and Corian M. Johnson, 22, both of Fort Worth, have been arrested in connection a fatal shooting that occurred during a drug deal outside an Arlington McDonald's, police said. Both men have been charged with capital murder, but police said they believe Johnson was the shooter, the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports.
