MAN CHARGED IN SLAYING OF FORMER GIRLFRIEND
Police have charged a former boyfriend with the slaying of a 35-year-old woman found in a Dallas motel. Police said Jose Gonzalez, 46, dropped off Zulma Salmeron's 2-year-old grandson at one of his relative's house Tuesday and said he had killed her. The relative then took the child to a police station, and police began searching for Gonzalez. Sheriff's deputies found him in a car crash along C.F. Hawn Freeway Tuesday afternoon. Salmeron's body was found Wednesday morning at a motel in the 7100 block of C.F. Hawn Freeway. Gonzalez is charged with murder. Click here to watch a video report on NBCDFW.com.

EX-DALLAS COP SENTENCED FOR POINTING GUN AT SINGER 
A former Dallas police officer who pointed a gun at country music singer Steve Holy during an off-duty night of drinking is going to jail for 45 days. Randy Anderson, 27, was sentenced Wednesday as part of a deferred adjudication probation. He won't have a conviction if he successfully completes his probation for aggravated assault. GRAND JURY INDICTS FORMER DAY CARE OWNER 
A grand jury has indicted a 49-year-old Denton woman with filing a false report to police after a baby was found unconscious at her day care center and later died. Debra Turney is accused of giving the wrong information to police involving four-month-old Sophia Worsham. The baby died after being found unconscious at Turney's home-based day care center in January. Click here to read this story on NBCDFW.com

MAN IN TCU ATTACK MAY HAVE ASSAULTED WOMAN AT REST AREA
Police say a man who attacked a Texas Christian University student in October may have also sexually assaulted a woman in Burleson early Friday morning. The 26-year-old was robbed and assaulted at knifepoint when she stopped to ruse the bathroom at a rest area off Interstate 35 just after midnight. The man then fled into a nearby wooded area. Police released a sketch of the man. Burleson police are urging women to avoid rest stops at night, especially while traveling alone. Click here to watch a video report on NBCDFW.com.
 
DALLAS OFFICER ARRESTED, ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING HUSBAND
A Dallas police officer was arrested Wednesday and charged with a misdemeanor family violence assault charge, the Dallas Morning News reported. Officers responded to a disturbance call involving Barbara Ann Chandler, 29, and her husband at about 10:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of East Cherry Street, Duncanville police said. Chandler's husband had visible injuries, police said. Chandler, a four-year veteran, has been placed on restricted duty. The charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $4,000 fine.  Click here to read this story on the Dallas Morning News.
