BIG-RIG ROLLS OVER ON IRVING HIGHWAY
Shortly before midnight Thursday, Irving police responded to eastbound state Highway 114 at Spur 482 where they found an 18-wheeler, which had been pulling double trailers, on its side. Paramedics transported the driver to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police said the driver of the truck had just left the Central Freight depot when he began up Spur 482 and likely drove too fast, causing his load to shift.
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SPILLED ON FREEWAY IN KAUFMAN COUNTY
An 18-wheeler turned over on Farm-to-Market Road 429 about a mile south of Interstate 20 Wednesday, spilling fuel on the roadway. Hazmat crews were called to clean up the fuel spill and tractors were brought in to pick up and haul off the large round bails of hay, which had fallen from the truck. The truck was northbound on FM 429 and failed to negotiate a curve, causing the truck to roll, poliec said. The driver escaped without injury.
MAN SEEN PERFORMING LEWD ACTS IN MCKINNEY ARRESTED
Police arrested James Wesley Taylor, 25, Tuesday night on suspicion of exposing himself to young teens, police said. Since July 28, McKinney police had been searching for a man who had performed lewd sexual acts toward two teenage girls while he was stopped at a red light, The Dallas Morning News reports. The same man was believed to have struck again on Aug. 7. Taylor faces a charge of indecency with a child and was released on $10,000 bail Wednesday.
MYSTERIOUS GUNSHOT WOUND FOUND ON TRAIN WRECK VICTIM
Newark and Tarrant County Sheriff Deputies are investigating a wreck that occurred Wednesday night involving a train and a car. Police responded to 13700 state Highway 718 where a Honda Civic had been hit by a Union Pacific freight train. As paramedics checked the driver's injuries, they found he had been shot in the head. The man was traveling southbound on the highway when his car left the roadway, jumped a bar ditch, ran through trees and brush before climbing a steep hill and coming to rest on the tracks before being hit by the train, Tarrant County investigators say. Officers located a handgun in the brush about 10-feet behind the car, but are unsure how or where the shooting occurred. Investigators hope the victim will be able to tell them what happened.
TEEN ARRESTED AFTER FATAL STABBING
Paloma Salazar, 17, is accused of fatally stabbing 63-year-old Jesus Cazares in an apparent robbery on Tuesday, The Dallas Morning News reports. Salazar was seen fleeing from the 4800 block of East Side Avenue about 5 p.m., where Cazares was found on the ground. Salazar was being held at Dallas County Jail late Wednesday, police say.
