A cyclist was hospitalized Wednesday following a hit-and-run crash where he was struck while tying his shoe.
According to the Crowley Police Department, the cyclist had been riding west but stopped along the 1800 block of Farm-to-Market Road 1187 at about 8 p.m.
A witness traveling westbound saw the driver of a white or gray sport utility vehicle brake momentarily before swerving around something. As the witness got closer, he noticed the cyclist on the ground and called 911.
The driver of the SUV drove away, turning on to Business FM 1187 and away from the crash scene.
They cyclist was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where doctors treated him for several broken bones and internal bleeding.
As of this writing, police have been unable to locate the driver who struck the cyclist. They are asking for public's help in tracking down the vehicle which, police said, likely has new damage to the front, hood and/or side.
