28-Year-Old Cyclist Fatally Struck by A-Train in Denton

A 28-year-old man riding a bicycle near West Shady Shores Road and Lakeview Boulevard was struck and killed by a commuter train Tuesday morning, police said.

Police said a Denton County Transportation Authority A-Train struck the bicyclist — later identified as Kevin Perry, of Argyle — where the Denton Katy Trail crosses the train tracks at about 11:45 a.m.

"Our sincere condolences are with the individual's family and friends who are mourning their loss," DCTA President Jim Cline said.

A DCTA official said none of the 11 people on the train were injured in the collision.

Buses ran between the MedPark and Highland Village/Lewisville Lake stations to help alleviate train delays caused by the crash, the official said.
