UPS Packages Delivered After Christmas

Customers that did not receive packages in time for Christmas are having to schedule time to pick pick up undelivered packages.

Leyda Costilla says she paid extra for two-day delivery on a game console for her brother for Christmas. She didn't receive the package by Dec. 25, and she had to pick it up from UPS on Thursday.

“It was supposed to get here last Thursday, and I paid extra for the two-day air shipping, and it just got here today, and they also kept rescheduling it,” said Costilla.

A UPS spokesperson says the company has made good progress in the backlog across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The spokesperson says the backlog began during the ice storm in early December.

The spokesperson says UPS is continuing to deliver packages Thursday night, and she expects all packages scheduled for Christmas delivery to be delivered by Friday.

“The volume of air packages in our system exceeded the capacity in our network as demand was much greater than the forecast," UPS said on Tuesday.

Nationally, UPS had its problems. The company said two weeks ago it was ready for the Christmas rush. They had to back track when online sales jumped 37 percent last weekend.

On Thursday, UPS announced it "apologizes to both shipping and receiving customers who may have delays."
