I-635 at Dallas North Tollway Reopens After Crash

Truck ran into sign at westbound LBJ at Dallas North Tollway

You could almost hear the sigh of frustration from North Dallas.

An 18-wheeler gravel hauler hit a metal structure that holds highway signs above Interstate 635 at about 10:25 a.m. Saturday.

The crash happened on the westbound side of I-635 at the Dallas North Tollway. The Texas Department of Transportation closed all of the westbound lanes on I-635 for four and a half hours for safety reasons.

TxDOT plans to leave the westbound entrance ramp to the northbound Dallas North Tollway closed. Officials said they want to move the metal support that holds up the signs before reopening the ramp because it could be dangerous to drivers.

All westbound I-635 traffic is diverted to the access road. Dallas police had officers assisting with traffic control on Saturday.
