Crandall ISD School Bus Hit in Route to Tour College Campus

Seven students were taken to local area hospitals

A pickup truck struck the back of a Crandall ISD school bus resulting in seven students being taken to local area hospitals for minor injuries Thursday morning around 10:30.

Authorities say the bus crash occurred in Palo Pinto County as the driver of the Dodge truck identified as 70 year old Charles R. Gill from Denton, failed to control the speed of the truck and struck the rear of the bus.

Gill indicated to police that he fell asleep while driving and was also cited for failure to control the speed of his vehicle.

The school bus held 28 occupants which included 27 students and the bus driver.

The bus was on its way to Tarleton State University to take a tour of the school.
