CPR Training Offered at DFW Airport Friday

Stuck at the airport? Learn how to save a life.

North Texas paramedics are offering free CPR training for passengers flying out of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Friday.

Paramedics with MedStar, D/FW International Airport Department of Public Safety and American Medical Response in Arlington and Dallas partnered to teach the compression-only CPR technique.

Compression-only CPR, or hands-only CPR, involves pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest to the beat of any tune that's 100 to 120 beats per minute, according to the American Red Cross. Immediate CPR can substantially increase a person's chance of survival.

"Compression-only CPR can help save lives and is easy to perform," MedStar CEO Doug Hooten said. "While our paramedics often get to an emergency quickly, immediate action during cardiac arrest can make the difference between life and death."
