Fort Worth’s 38th annual Cowtown Marathon wrapped up Sunday afternoon and the winners are in.

The official winners of the 2016 Cowtown Ultra Marathon: Fort Worth's own Elizabeth Northern with a time of 3:21:04, completely smashing the women's course record of 3:54:20.  The male winner is Bryan Worseman with a time of 3:01:44.

The winners of the 2016 Cowtown Marathon: Female Winner, Loice Kangogo with a time of 2:53:38 and Male Winner, Kimutai Cheruiyot with a time of 2:18:34.

The official winners of the 2016 Cowtown Half Marathon: Nelson Oyugi was the male winner, with a time of 1:04:34 beating the course record of 1:06:00, and Veronicah Maina was the female winner, with a time of 1:11:44 beating the course record of 1:15:22.

Among the runners were also a mother and daughter duo from Dallas.

Janet and Claire Davis trained together and competed during the half marathon. Mother Janet crossed first but kept her mind on her daughter during the entire course.

"I was actually really wondering what was going through her mind, if she was going to finish strong, if she was worried, if she was looking for me but mostly really proud,” said Davis.

They were among thousands of runners. The event is more than just a race for some people, it’s also an opportunity to make some dreams come true.

"This is kind of a bucket list item of mine for a while now so I am doing the half marathon and will do the full one next year,” said Jessica Nosek.

The experience brought out the best in everyone and strengthened kinship, especially for Janet and Claire.

“I was thinking that I have to learn to run with a stroller one day when she has children so we can all run together,” said Janet.

Event organizers announced earlier this week it will offer more than $30,000 in cash prizes to the winners.
