Consumer Watchdogs Issue Fire Hazard Recalls

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued four recalls for products that could potentially cause some serious fire hazards.

CoScentrix DD Brand Candles

First, CoScentrix expanded a recall of DD brand candles sold exclusively at Hobby Lobby. The candles were sold in a variety of fragrances and colors in 5- and 12- ounce Mason jars, 10- and 20-ounce decorative jars, 13-ounce coffee tins and 13-ounce holiday-themed jars.

The wick on the candles isn't right and the problem started nine serious fires.

Mohawk Industries Gold Shag Rugs

Next, Mohawk recalled rugs sold at The Home Depot that failed to meet federal standards for flammability and could ignite.

They are called the altitude gold shag rug, and consumers should call Mohawk Industries at (877) 737-8343 to get a refund on the larger sizes.

Olympus DS-5500 Digital Audio Recorders

Olympus recalled its DS-5500 digital audio recorders because the devices can overheat while charging.

AP Specialties Power Bank Chargers

And AP Specialties recalled its two-tone power bank chargers. More than 170,000 of them are out there, and one of them caused a serious fire.

They were handed out for free at trade shows and conventions.

AP Specialties will send you a new one if you contact them at (888) 877-7221.
