Construction Finally Starts on Bumpy Dallas Street

Construction starts Tuesday on long-awaited improvements to Sylvan Avenue in Dallas.

The roadworks fall between Fort Worth Avenue and Singleton Boulevard.

Drivers can expect construction to last for at least a year and a half.

The multi-million dollar project will make the path of a 4-lane divided roadway, along with bike lanes and sidewalks. It will also add barrier-free ramps and new traffic signals.

Drivers should expect delays during the construction.

Signs, electronic message boards, and flagmen will notify drivers of all lane changes.

The project was approved in a 2006 bond referendum.
