Will DCS Have Enough Bus Drivers for Back-to-School?

The first day of school will start today for the Dallas Independent School District, but getting students there may be a problem.

There are concerns that Dallas County Schools Transportation Department does not have enough bus drivers to complete their routes.

According to our records, two weeks ago DCS was short 248 bus drivers. The transpiration department was able to narrow the shortage to 28 drivers by consolidated bus routes.

According to a spokesperson for Dallas ISD, district employees who have their CDL have been given the opportunity to drive buses.

Dallas ISD and DCS have been working together closely to make sure the first day of school runs smoothly.

Back in 2016, Dallas ISD complained that DCS offered poor service that made students late to class.
