Dozens of North Texas Sonic carhops are competing in the 2011 Dr. Pepper/RC Sports SONIC "So You Think You Can Skate" contest.
They showed off their best tricks Wednesday, some while serving food.
The competitive carhops gathered in Lewisville for a taping of a nationwide contest, which offered a cash prize and other perks.
Aaron Bower, who works at a SONIC in Fort Worth, serves customers with a twirl and a side of personality.
"My skating does not stand out. It's me that stands out. It's not the car, it's the driver, right? There we go. It's not the skates. It's the guy inside the skates. That's what I'm talking about!" said Bower.
Another SONIC worker, Anthony Rodawalt honed his skills by playing hockey and doing a lot of handstands during his time working at the Lewisville location during the past seven summers.
"I skate to and from work, and sometimes things come out at you that you don't really like and you have to avoid them. And that's the best way to do it, is to just jump on your hands and go for it," said Rodawalt.

The skaters are hoping to become one of the six finalists chosen to get an all-expense-paid trip to Las Vegas where a winner will be picked in September.
The judges will look for drive-in service skills and stunts. Carhops are showing their flare with tricks like spins, a forward-then-backward sequence around the cones and a move called the "Superman."
And they're taking pride in what they can do.
"It's a lot faster than walking. It's just a lot more fun," said Jessica Welter, a carhop who works in Lake Dallas. "It's pretty difficult. I've had a couple of pretty good spills."
The winner of the contest gets $1,000, a pair of skates and the chance to be a SONIC spokesperson or appear in a SONIC television commercial.
