Baby Mistakenly Left in Car Dies: Police

Detectives talking to family

Dallas police said a child mistakenly left in a car for as many as four hours died Thursday afternoon.

Police and paramedics were called to the home in the 1900 block of Sedona just after 1:30 p.m.

Family members told investigators they found 7-month-old Brianna Jones unconscious in the car and called 911. Paramedics worked to revive the child before transporting her to Methodist Central Hospital, where she later died.

According to police, a family friend planned to drop the child off at day care, but mistakenly left the child in the car.

She returned home about 9 o'clock this morning, and when she came back out, the officers actually drove up about the same time, about 1:30 in the afternoon, so about four and a half hours or so, so it's really a tragedy," Lt. Andy Harvey said. meteorologist David Finfrock reports the temperature at Dallas Love Field at the time was 80 degrees.

Child abuse detectives went to the scene to talk with family members and the friend to determine if there was evidence of a crime.
