Girl, 6, Wounded in South Dallas Drive-By Shooting: Police

Police said a 6-year-old girl was wounded in a drive-by shooting in South Dallas Thursday night. [[397057651,C]]

Dallas police said they responded to reports of the shooting at 9:34 p.m. near the intersection of South 2nd and Metropolitan avenues and found the girl who had been shot.

Investigators said the girl was in a vehicle with her father when two men in a red SUV began shooting at a nearby business. A bullet passed through the driver door and struck the girl.

The girl was transported to a hospital with injuries that police said were not life threatening.

No other injuries were reported.

Police asked that anyone with information about this incident call 911, Det. Nathan Heathcote at 214-671-4259 or Crime Stoppers at 214-373-8477 (TIPS). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to an indictment.
