Chief: Austin Commander Fired for Actions During ‘Rough Sex'

The Austin police chief has fired one of his commanders for a series of violations that allegedly include choking a woman on separate occasions during what a disciplinary memo described as "rough sex."

Chief Brian Manley on Thursday dismissed Cmdr. Jason Dusterhoft on grounds that he violated state law by engaging in deadly conduct by strangling the woman.

The memo said other transgressions included not being truthful during the investigation into Dusterhoft's actions.

He was previously an assistant chief but was demoted last year as Manley assembled his executive leadership.

Dusterhoft has said sex with the woman was consensual and his attorney, Jason Nassour, said Manley is inserting himself into Dusterhoft's private life.

Nassour said his client will appeal the firing.
