Firefighters have managed to contain about 60 percent of a Central Texas wildfire near Austin although their progress is being threatened by higher winds and lower humidity.
Some 275 firefighters Sunday are being assisted by at least seven aircraft dumping water and fire retardant at the Hidden Pines Fire in Bastrop County, about 40 miles southeast of Austin. The containment is up from 50 percent reported Saturday evening.
Officials say they're prepared for an approaching weather front likely to boost winds and lower humidity and are confident they have resources in place to hold the fire lines.
No injuries have been reported but some 4,600 acres have been blackened and 50 homes and seven businesses lost since the blaze broke out last Tuesday.
