Investigators say a Central Texas man has been charged with killing his mother by allegedly beating her with a tool meant to install metal fence posts.
Hamilton County jail records show 33-year-old Matthew Long of Hico (HY'-koh) was being held Wednesday on a murder charge. Records don't list an attorney to speak for Long, whose bond was $500,000.
The body of Sharon Long was discovered Sunday, in the home she shared with her son, after he walked to another relative's place to report what happened.
Lt. Roy Wood of the Hico Marshal's Office says authorities are seeking a motive for the slaying. Wood says the son was unemployed and moved in with his mother two months ago.
A fence post driver was recovered.
Hico is 65 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
