Can't Go Far With Half a Car

Crash ends wrong-way chase near Houston

A chase on a Texas freeway near Houston ended with a wrong-way crash and an attempted escape with half of the car missing.

The driver of a white car went into the westbound lanes of the freeway and kept going until a vehicle traveling the right way bumped him. The white car then slammed into an oncoming SUV, police in Jersey Village, Texas said.

The driver continued the chase even with the back half of the car missing.

His car then spun out and ended up in a muddy ditch, surrounded by police cars.

The chase began after the man was caught trying to break windows at a car dealership just off the freeway.

The chase reached speeds of 100 mph at times, investigators said.
