Bystanders Struck in Dallas Shooting, One Dead

Two bystanders were struck by gunfire Sunday morning in Dallas.

Dallas police said they responded at about 1 a.m. to the shooting in the 3200 block of Elsie Faye Heggins Street near Malcolm X Blvd. Two people were in the area and got into a shootout near that intersection.

The bullets from the gunfight hit a car that was nearby, hitting two bystanders.

Police said 26-year-old Dareon Merchant was killed in the shooting and 29-year-old Troylett Dorsey was injured.

Dorsey was transported to Baylor Hospital and released.

Police are still looking for the those responsible for the shooting and have not released a description.
