Buc-ee's Fort Worth to Open Monday

The long wait is nearly over for Buc-ee's fans in North Texas.

"We started with nothing, we built it from the ground up, and now that we're starting to open I'm really pumped to finally see customers," said Joseph Ballog, one of 240 employees at Buc-ee's Fort Worth.

A year after construction started on the 60,000-square-foot travel store, Buc-ee's 32nd location in Texas will open for business Monday at 6 a.m. in the shadow of Texas Motor Speedway at Highway 114 and Interstate 35W.

"We're pumped," said Buc-ee's General Manager Paul Soriano. "Got the speedway right across the street from us, all those race weekends and stuff, so we're pretty pumped about this location."

Buc-ee's Fort Worth will offer everything loyal fans have come to expect, including cheap gas, clean restrooms and lots of jerky and Beaver Nuggets.

"It's kind of like a Cracker Jack without the peanuts, maybe caramel-type popcorn," said assistant manager Kirk Boerner, about the Beaver Nuggets. "We have 18 pallets of this in the back right now."

Outside, 100 gas pumps stand ready for the estimated 92,000 vehicles that pass by the location on the nearby highways each day.

On Friday, police and firefighters from neighboring communities have been invited to check out the store themselves, and sample some Buc-ee's barbecue.

Buc-ee's is currently building a second North Texas location in Denton.
