Cooper Warren had the go-ahead touchdown run before Mikey Golden returned a fumble for a score in the fourth quarter, and basketball power Brock won a state title in just its second year of sanctioned football, beating Cameron Yoe 43-33 for the Class 3A Division I championship Thursday night.

Cameron Yoe running back Traion Smith, the 3A offensive player of the year on the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors all-state team, had 133 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries before sustaining a leg injury that sent him to the hospital late in the first half. There was no immediate update on his condition.

Brock (16-0), which came in with three basketball titles and 15 overall in six sports since 2001, won a football championship a year after joining the University Interscholastic League. The school played games in 2013 before officially joining the UIL.

Cameron Yoe (14-2) had won three straight state titles and four overall.

Leddy French had 18 carries for 133 yards and three touchdowns, including a clinching 14-yarder with 1:06 remaining. Tyler Gray added 151 yards on 28 carries.

After Smith's injury, Brock overcame a 20-7 halftime deficit, starting with French's 9-yard scoring run.

Cameron Yoe answered with Jacob Smitherman's 74-yard touchdown pass to Sicory Smith, but Brock overcame a fumble with a defensive stand and got back within a touchdown at 26-21 on Warren's 52-yard touchdown run.

Smitherman was 15 of 28 for 295 yards and two touchdowns, while Smith finished with seven catches for 190 yards.

Brock went ahead for good at 29-26 when Warren scored from 6 yards and Pike Langford ran in the 2-point conversion.

Golden put Brock up by 10 points when he picked up an errant snap to Smitherman and ran 28 yards for a touchdown with 7 minutes remaining.

Smitherman kept Cameron Yoe close with a 7-yard scoring pass to Iverson Westbrook.
