Brawl Captured on Camera Outside DISD School

Video posted to Facebook this week captured what appears to be several Dallas Independent School District students involved in several fights in a gas station parking lot, including at least one fight where three girls are seen ganging up on another.

β€œI was like, β€˜Oh my gosh. Look at these girls on my baby,’” said Kymberly Thompson, the mother of a sophomore at H. Grady Spruce High School seen being beaten to the ground by three classmates.

A DISD spokesperson told NBC 5 the district was unaware of the fight prior to Wednesday.

β€œThis video has been forwarded to our Office of Student Discipline for review, and we will take action as appropriate,” said Andre Riley, of Dallas ISD. β€œBecause this incident occurred off district property, we may be limited in our response.”

The owner of the gas station, Wolf Mart, at the corner of South Saint Augustine Drive and Old Seagoville Road in Pleasant Grove, said he witnessed the series of fights Monday morning and estimated the crowd to be upwards of 150 students.

β€œIt is hurting my business,” said Sam Patel. β€œYou going to come here tomorrow? No. You are my regular customer. You are not going to come over here because of this, 150 kids are fighting.”

Patel and others, parents and students alike, claim to see fights similar to the one captured on camera on a regular basis.

β€œIt’s not a surprise,” said parent Mario Rodriguez. β€œWe drive by here every day and we see a fight here every day.”

The mother of the sophomore seen being beaten up by three students told NBC 5 she has filed an assault report with the Dallas Police Department. And that she wants to see the school district take action, as well.

β€œI want these girls punished for what they did to my daughter, because I don’t think that was right. Three girls on one? No,” Thompson said Wednesday.

Thompson, Patel, Rodriguez and several students said they would like to see a police officer stationed in the parking lot near the school in the morning and in the afternoon as a deterrent to prevent future fights from becoming even more dangerous.
