Dallas police said a 6-year-old riding a bicycle died after he was hit by a sport utility vehicle on Wednesday.
Police said Juan Marin, 6, was hit near Singleton Boulevard and Kingbridge Street. Witnesses said the boy rode his bicycle out of a driveway and into the vehicle.
Marin was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Dallas schools Superintendent Micheal Hinojosa said in statement that school employees were "devastated and brokenhearted" by Marin's death.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with th family, as well as the child's teachers and classmates," he said in the statement.
The female driver of the SUV is not expected to face charges, the Dallas Morning News reported.
