Boy Bit by Pit Bull While Protecting Sister

A Dallas teenager is recovering from minor injuries after being attacked by a dog Monday.

Police said several dogs approached the 13-year-old boy and his 18-year-old sister as they walked home along Hoblitzelle Drive in Dallas.

The boy stepped in front of his sister after the dog made an aggressive move toward the girl, officials said.  The dog, a pit bull, then charged toward the boy and bit him on the knee.

The boy was driven to an area hospital by his mother after suffering minor injuries.

Animal control seized the dog but the owner expects to have the animal returned when he can prove the dog's registration and shots are up to date.

Officials have not said if all of the dogs belong to the same owner.
