Police said an 8-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle after running from a wasp nest in Lewisville Sunday afternoon. [[381949401,C]]
Lewisville police said they responded to a call of a child being struck by a vehicle at the Northwood Mobile Home Park in the 400 block of East Texas 121 Business at 1:51 p.m.
The victim — later identified as Alexander Ramirez — and two friends were playing when they disturbed the wasp nest and ran, according to police. The victim ran into the path of a vehicle being driven by a 20-year-old female.
The child was transported to the Medical Center of Lewisville where he died, police said.
Investigators said neither intoxication nor excessive speed appear to be factors in the crash. No other charges have been filed.
