The body of a man later confirmed to be missing kayaker Edgar Castro was found in the river along the 4100 block of Idlewood Drive in Fort Worth, the Tarrant County medical examiner said.

"As soon as units got on scene and we had confidence that we had found the kayaker, we contacted the family and made the notification," Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Lt. Kyle Falkner said.

The location where the body was found is roughly two miles from where Castro went missing last Saturday. No further details have been confirmed.

"We had to utilize our technical rescue team because of the high angle involved [in] getting down to the water line," Falkner said. "The team was able to safely recover the body."

Castro was last seen kayaking on the Trinity River Saturday with a friend when the pair ran into trouble. Castro's friend was able to swim back to shore, but Castro hadn't been seen since.

Officials searched for the missing man throughout the weekend and transitioned the rescue operation to a recovery operation on Monday.

On Tuesday, the body of another person was found in the river's West Fork near Gateway Park. A positive identification on that person has not yet been released.
