Firefighters were dispatched at about 6 p.m. to a vehicle fire in the 5200 block of Wilbarger Street.

Once the flames were extinguished, firefighters discovered the burned bodies inside.

"The vehicle and the bodies both are completely burned. All we can tell is that it is an SUV. All we can tell about the bodies is that they do appear to be human. We can't tell if they're male or female, race or sex or age," said Fort Worth Police Sgt. Jeffrey Dunn.

The vehicle was located about 200 yards off the road in an empty field, and the gate leading to the field was found locked when firefighters arrived.

Homicide detectives, arson investigators and officers with the crime scene unit are all trying to figure out what happened.

Three weeks ago, the burned body of a woman who was murdered was found less than two miles away on South Cravens Road. It is unknown whether the two incidents are in any way related.
